July - August 13th July 2008 Newhaven, Peacehaven & Seaford, Peacehaven Donkey Derby 19th July 2008 Rottingdean & Saltdean, Saltdean Gala Day Our annual gala day includes sideshows and games, races and games for the children, a fun fair, classic car show and dog show. Entry and the children's games and races are all free. There is also a BBQ and licenced bar. 19th July 2008 Whitstable & Herne Bay, Whitstable Regatta Whitstable & Herne Bay Lions keep up the 217 year old tradition of the Regatta. Held on Tankerton Slopes, the two-day event this year opens the Oyster Festival. Music, entertainment, dog show, funfair, stalls, yacht races and refreshments are on offer, ending the first day with a grand firework display. For more information phone 01227 274237 20th July 2008 Rye & District, Annual Rye Raft Race & Fete Race starts at 13:15 with raft assembly from 11:45. Fete starts at noon with barbecue, beer tent, live music, rides & sideshows. Entry to fete is free, but collection for local charities. All day car parking £2, including lucky number programme. 20th July 2008 Whitstable & Herne Bay, Whitstable Regatta The second day of the Regatta sees more fun on the Tankerton Slopes with music, fun and entertainment for everyone. For more information phone 01227 274237 15th August 2008 Swanley & North Downs (Farningham & District), Bike around Brands 2008 A evening event where cyclists have the opportunity of riding round the Grand Prix loop at Brands Hatch from 6.00 p.m. until 8.00 p.m., at their own pace, whilst raising funds for the Lions Hospice and other worthy causes.
